How much money on average does a E2 in the army make per month with a wife and child?

My husband is leaving in about a month for basic. I'm worried we wont have enough money for our finances. I would like to know the break down of how much money he would be making during basic, when he gets deployed and when he is home.

How much money on average does a E2 in the army make per month with a wife and child?
close to 3000 a month that with you're housing allowance but that also depends on where you live and the cost of liveing remeber in basic he will only be a e1 he wont get e2 until he gets out of basic. tell him to join the navy he will make rank faster and you get sea pay and a safe ship with a nice bed
Reply:The base pay for an E-2 with less than 2 yrs in is 1509.90 a month. Only your base pay is taxable. Because he is married, he will also receive 294.43 BAS monthly (food allowance), and he will also get BAH monthly (housing allowance). BAS and BAH are not taxed, and the amount of BAH he will get depends on where he is stationed. Here's a good reference to find out how much he'll get: http://images.military.com//ContenFiles/...

Also, if y'all live on post in govt. housing, you won't get BAH, but you will not have to pay rent or utilities.
Reply:Here is a link.

Private (E2) $18,118

The link of above is to the payment calculator tool.

You should have signed a financial statement and a spousal statement of understanding when he joined????
Reply:its pretty good bro, especially if you dont have any dept. AFTER TAXES AS AN E-3. I MADE 2,550 EACH MONTH. AND THATS WITH SHITTY BAH. IT WAS FOR MISSISSIPPI. MY WIFE QUIT WORKING, BUT THEN SHE WENT BACK PART TIME CUZ SHE WAS BORED.
Reply:The same amount an E2 makes without a wife and kid. The only advantage to being married is you get housing and benefits. The pay is horrible.
Reply:Just enough to put you under the poverty line. No seiously when I was an E-2 I qualified for Food Stamps!! It was crazy. Look on www.army.gov and you may be able to find a pay chart.
