How do I make ALOT of money in a yard sale?

I need to make alot of money right now. I need tips on hidden money and I need advice on how to let some items go. How do I sort through this stuff?

NBC Today just featured this topic yesterday morning. Here are some of the tips I remember the Garage Sale Guru recommending:





Clean everything


Put fresh batteries in items that use batteries


Organize things logically: clothes with clothes, toys with toys, books with books, kitchen items separate from bedroom items etc


Label with price tags. Don't tag something that's more than half of what you paid for.


ADVERTISE your sale! Place signs everywhere, ads in the local paper.


Be prepared to start early to please the early birds


Place big items up front to grab passers-by attention, like antique beds etc.


Spread things out to make people move everywhere for cool stuff.





The purpose of a garage sale is to get rid of unwanted items. It is not meant to get rich off of.
Reply:I read once that you should have everything clean looking. It attracts more money that way. Also, try to price everything, otherwise people will want to give you a quarter for everything!
Reply:invite your neighbors to sell their stuff at your yard sale also...creating a 'neighborhood' yard sale...more stuff=more buyers. take 10% of anything sold of your neighbors
