How much money can a local yarn shop make?

I am thinking of opening a local yarn shop and need alot of advice? Is anyone out there making money at it? What is the income range? Thx so much!! I will report back once I open the store and let everyone know how it is going. ANY advice is appreciated.

Make sure you survey your surroundings first, before investing a lot in yarns, books and other supplies.


Do you have other craft stores nearby, JoAnn's, Michaels's, Hobby Lobby, or other large chain stores that carry yarns as well, like WalMart etc. that might cause competition for your business?


What's the age of population around you?


Have you attended expo's and craft shows in your area to see how well attended those are and what the age range of the customers is, and what they are looking for?


Those are just a few things you should consider. Then sit down and write up a business plan.
