Let's say you want to be financially independent at 45 yrs old. How much money do you need invested. Assume you spend about 60-70k per year. Please take into account a conservative 5-6 percent on your return.
How much money do you guys feel you need to be financially independent?
To generate $60K per year, I'd want about $1.5million in a well diversified investment portfolio ($2million if you were fairly conservative).
If I wait 10 years, I'd need more income. Therefore, I'd want a larger nest egg....probably 50% larger ($3million to $4million).
Reply:I want a big business so I will need like $1million.
Reply:Donald Trump has described it as one million dollars passive income per year.
Reply:To be financially independent, you wouldn't need any money.
So I guess the answer to your question is, zero.
Geez. Where do you people come up with these questions!
