How much money should you have saved to move out of the state?

How much money should I save up before I finally decide to move out of here? I live with my grandpa and I want to move to Chicago by myself in my own apartment. A cheap studio apartment. I have 900 dollars saved right now. Is that enough to buy a plane ticket, find a place and start working right away? I don't have to worry about transportion since I'll be in a big city. Also, how safe is it for a single 18 year old female to live by herself in the city?

Reply:if you have to ask these questions there is no way you are mature enough, or smart enough to move on your own. Stay in your small town.
Reply:I wouldn't recommend it. Its not a nice place to live. Everywhere down here is dirty, even the wealthier areas! Its crowded and cramped, traffic is horrible. I have a fairly cheap apartment for this area and its $800.00 per month for a two bedroom. Lets put it this way, that $800.00 is what I pay for property taxes every year for my 10 acres in Northern Wisconsin. I have a decent little house with pole barn and the best part, I don't have to see or hear my neighbors~ ever.

you should check on the Internet on renting prices... as you say, big city, expensive city...





public transportation, food, expenses?...





you need way more than that... plus, what gives you a guaranty that you will find a job as soon as you get there?
