How much money should I take for a 6 day Disney Vacation?

Me, my wife, and 9 year old daughter are going to Orlando in about 2 weeks. We are staying for 6 days. We have already booked and paid for our hotel and flights. I have no idea how much spending money I should bring? How much should we budget for food?

We are planning 3 days of parks (although un-decided on which ones) and spend 3 days lounging at our hotel.

How much money should I take for a 6 day Disney Vacation?
Well, obviously the hotel and air is going to be two of the major expenses for the trip. But you left out details on two very impotant things for the trip. First, do you have tickets purchased and second do you have the meal plan? This will really affect how much money to bring.

Buying tickets in advance and buying the meal plan will save you a lot of money, not to mention you will need to bring a lot less spending money with you. For instance, tickets at the gate around $67 for adults and a little less for kids. For food, if you plan on eating at Disney, you are looking at around $10 for a hamburger at the counterservice places. At table service restaraunts you are looking at closer to $20+ for a meal per person. So that will greatly add to the cost of your trip and how much to bring. So I'm going to give you an idea of everything else to consider, then you can decide how much to bring if you don't have food and tickets bought.

I agree with the other person, around $1000 is a good amount to bring, again depending on if you have food and tickets. You will probably need slightly more if you haven't purchased this yet. If you haven't already purchased this, I would definitely look into this, it will really save you a lot of money. You should still be able to add them on.

But again, each person is going to be different as far as how much money to bring. Will you be getting a rental car? You will need money for gas. With a 9 year old daughter, it is likely you will hear a lot of "daddy can I have this?" There is a lot of great things you can buy, so you may find yourself buying lots of stuff. So each person will be different with this. I would bring around $1000 to be on the safe side, maybe around $1500 if you don't have tickets and food yet, possibly a little more. If you don't like carrying this much money, I would just bring a credit card, it's safer.

Sorry I couldn't give you a little better idea. But it is hard to give you a better estimate without knowing what you have in your package. And each person will be different as far as what they will buy.

Hope this helps! Have a great trip!!
Reply:Plan on around $215.00 per day for theme park tickets or check the Disney site disneyworld.disney.go.com for exact amount. You can purchase them now and avoid waiting in lines, just pick them up at gate.

Food and drinks inside the parks are very expensive, plan on about $25.00 per person a day inside the parks. You might want to go by McDonald's for breakfast if you're not staying at a Disney Resort. Another good idea if you're not staying on Disney property, take a break from the parks at around 4:00 p.m. and go our for a nice dinner and return to the parks around 6:00 p.m. and enjoy the rest of the evening. Just to be safe, I would take at least $1,000.00 for food and check the Disney Website for ticket prices. This is eating at your normal family restaurants that you find in most large cities.

And don't forget souveniers. But be careful, there is a souvenier shop at the exit of almost every ride and it's easy to buy alot of stuff before you realize it.

Have fun, wish I could go with you. My family loves Disney World.

P.S. It will take a whole day to enjoy the Magic Kingdom. If you get the Park Hopper tickets you may find that you can spend the first part of your day at one of the other parks (Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM) and then go back to the Magic Kingdom after an early dinner and enjoy the Electric Parade, Fireworks, and Tinkerbell flying through the sky and ofcourse your favorite rides. The Fast Pass is great too at all the parks. If the wait on a ride is very long, you can swipe your ticket for a Fast Pass and you will be given a time to come back to that ride and just walk right on in. That way, you can go stand in shorter lines and enjoy other rides while you wait for the more popular ones.

I think if you took at least $2500.00 you will be safe and probably have some left over.
