How much money do you get paid for babysitting?

I'm trying to figure out how much money to charge. One lady has 3 boys, one in kindergarten, a toddler, and a baby. Then another lady who has three girls, a four year old, a two year old, and a newborn.

How much money do you get paid for babysitting?
It depends upon where you live.

Rural areas: $4/hr for the 1st child + $2/hr for each additional.

High Density Areas: $8/hr for the 1st child + $4/hr for each additional.
Reply:i think the price should bepend on how many kids there are, age of the kids, and how long. longer hours=less money charged. more kids=more money charged.
Reply:whoaaa...you should be getting a hefty wage for those kinds of jobs like oh $2 /child. good luck though like the above says you'll be lucky to get $5/hour
Reply:For me, I let the family choose what to pay. Not everyone can afford to pay you the same amount. I babysat for one girl for 8 dollars an hour, but another family I babysat for had three kids (7,8, and 2 years old) but they couldn't afford to pay me more than than 2 dollars an hour. That's less than a dollar an hour per kid, but I did it anyway because they really needed the help. Don't set a certain amount, talk to the parents about what they are willing to pay. And discuss their behavior too, you should get paid more for kids who are hard to manage.
Reply:i think $3-$5 an hour sounds reasonable, but talk to the parents to see what they think is okay. also, make sure they know ahead of time how much ur charging, so there's no surprises.

try reading the american girl babysitting book for more help!
