Can the money proposed to taxpayers by the Bush stimulus plan be offset to pay a student loan?

My tax refund was used to offset a defaulted student loan last year and I was wondering if that would happen with the money Bush proposed to send to taxpayers in the Spring.

Can the money proposed to taxpayers by the Bush stimulus plan be offset to pay a student loan?
You get money to use for anything.
Reply:unknown ... offsets haven't been addressed in public.

ask your Congressperson for what you want.
Reply:you can use the rebate to spend on your student loan...you can use the rebate for anything! you will get a seperate check in the mail...seperate from your tax return...and you can spend it however you want.
