How much money should I save for a vacation to Scotland?

I'm planning on going to Scotland for a week in July. How much money should I save up for a plane ticket, hotel room, transportation and food? I live in the United States, by the way.

It depends, if you want to see Nessie, bring with you lots of pounds
Reply:You have to consider that the it is $2 to the pound right now. Things generally cost the same. By this I mean if it costs $15 here it will cost you 15 pounds there or $30 dollars so plan to pay twice as much. For instance you can probably get a decend B%26amp;B over there for around 50 to 90 pounds so that will be $100 to $180 a night. Then you have public transport for the train and/or bus. Keep in mind EVERYTHING costs over there. Every historic place you go, every parking spot you use, etc. I would say the plane ticket alone will be at least $800. Lodging will be minimum $700 and thats only at a B%26amp;B, not a hotel. You food would be approx. $100 a day if not more and thats just for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Public transport will vary widely depending on how you are traveling and where you are going. I would save at least $3000 as somoeone else answered. You best bet is to get on the internet and start looking at costs for the train, B%26amp;B's or Hotels, food and flights.
Reply:Alot. If you change $1000 , you get 500 pounds. So you lose half your money right off the bat. Also things are extremely expensive there. I bought a pack of cigarettes there and looked at my bank statement.... $15 for one pack. Everything is expensive there compared to here. It is beautiful but bring lots and lots of money.
Reply:At least three thousand dollars.
Reply:i would say at least 4 thousand!
