How much money would it take to open a mobile hot dog cart?
Depends on how you want to roll?

A new one will be between.....$3000 to $15,000

then the food....depends on what you want to sell.

You have to get a permit. You just cant hang out and sell food.

Health Dept., Police.

Pick a good location...location, location, location.

Courthouse, Industrial area, car wash.

Make sure you ask the people first.

Reply:well first of all you must take into account the prices of the goods you are selling. You must estimate how many things you are going to sell and how often you are going to renew your stock.

The second thing you must take into account is the price of your mobile cart. you must have it big enough to fit at least 2 staff into it and still have room for a fridge, a cooker/hob, a microwave and also a sink.

you must think of the best place to sell your products and also what times and dates you will be open.

alltogether will all of that imformation taken into account i estimate aproxomatly £1500 / $3000
Reply:a few questions....are you going to buy the cart or are you going to rent it from someone else....(I suggest renting it until you are sure that this is more than a passing fantasy)

Second, you will need a license or a permit of some kind and the price of that will vary from state to state...

The cost of the hotdogs and condiments are minimal and you can get buns and the like from a store like sams club....

SO although I cannot give you a definitive figure, I would think that the major things are:

1. The cost of the cart (rent or own) and the cost of the fuel to keep the cart cooking (generator, sterno etc)

2. The cost of the permits from the state (vendors license, maybe a license for food sales

3. The cost of the supplies/food (napkins, mustard onions etc)...

I would suggest talking to someone who is already selling on one to see if the profits are what you think they should be/and or worth your time.
Reply:lol, well first I would get your cost toghether see how muc it would cost you to buy a cart, hot dogs, buns etc.... and see how much you will charge. Pick a good spot and there you have it. But rember sell you hotdogs for more than they cost you. Hope this helps.

Edit: Whoever gave me a thumbs down F U
Reply:First of your push cart would run between: $2499.00 / $7999.00

Your stand in cart would run between : $9,999.00 / $12,999

all the way up to Price $10,499.00, Windowed $13,499.00

Second in my city, you need a vendors license to sell!

You also need to have your cart inspected by the health dept, each year, before you sell.

Then you need a venue / place to sell outside, like a hockey arena, basketball auditorium, baseball stadium.

You will need a propane tank, and an extra, so you never run out.

Then you need to see what everyone else is selling their dogs and soda for.

Then you need condiments, ketchup, mustard, diced onions, relish, hot sauce, maybe chili sauce.

Then there is your soda, fountain or cans. And your ice too.

Good Luck,

BTW: If you start up your business, I’ll take mine with mustard, ketchup, pickle, and onion! :)
