How can I help without giving my money to telemarketers?

50% or more of money given to non-profit relief funds and agencies that work in africa and elsewhere goes straight into the hands of the money-hungry organization itself without ever reaching those you intended to help. How can I actually do some good without squandering my money on liars and their inflated advertising costs?

How can I help without giving my money to telemarketers?
I'm assuming you want to help with natural disaster relief or something along those lines? I would do a clothes/food/bottled water/toiletry drive in your area. I'm sure that the local raido/tv/newspaper would love to help advertise for this kind of thing. If you actually get the products yourself you can donate them to the Red Cross or other victim relief organization. This will keep your money from going to waste. Good luck!!!
Reply:to avoid this, first you have to see their actual beneficiaries. second, talk to them and know the service that was or had been given by the organization. next, talk to the organization representative and the beneficiary together. last, tell the organization where do you want your money to be funded to in their available services.
Reply:Matthews Association is a non-proit organization dedicated to serving the nutritional needs in the community. They operate food banks and a mentoring program for at-risk youths. They are fully funded by public support. The website is http://devoted.to/matthews. And checks or money orders can be sent to 4540 N. 18th St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19140.

You can check their existence at www.guidestar.org

A great way to support the local causes, since the larger non-profits are fully funded by major grants.
